The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has been implementing the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 to resolve the issues related to the protection of consumer interests, prevention of anti-consumer rights and consumer rights.
Under the direction of National Consumer Rights Protection Council, the Directorate is implementing the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 at the field level. Apart from this, the District Consumer Rights Protection Committee has been formed in the chair of the District Consumer Rights Protection Committee, chairman of Upazila Chairmen, Upazila Consumer Rights Protection Committee and Chairman of the Union Parishad, who is the President of the Upazila chairman of the 11-member, District Consumer Rights Protection Committee under the chairmanship of the District Deputy Commissioner in 64 districts.
Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 A consolidated law to protect consumer interest. This Act provides for a maximum penalty of 2 (two) lakhs for the anti-consumer activities. Besides, there is a provision for the confiscation and provision of illegal goods or goods related material, materials, etc. in connection with the extra crime of the crime. Any aggrieved party under this law can file appeal within 60 days of the order of the local jurisdiction sessions judge. Apart from this, there is a provision for filing an appeal in the High Court division within 90 days against the verdict of the district judge judge and decree.
The main purpose of this Act is to protect and improve consumer rights. Under this law, crime is usable, compromised and secured. Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 is an additional law, in keeping with the laws made by other ministries of consumer rights in different names, if it is not the main law, and the law is consolidated and expanded. Administrative Implications: imposing a fine, canceling the license and unprocessing and indefinable closure of the activities.
Criminal Trial: If the case is filed, the maximum penalty of 3 years in jail and two hundred thousand taka or both bars
Diwali remedies: The following verdict for the trial of the suit filed by 5 times the amount of money compensation, which is due to the loss of money, may be:
(A) Order for the defendant for the repurchase of crude goods by the appropriate goods.
(B) the refusal to return the inoperative goods and order the defendant to return the value of the goods to the plaintiff;
(C) To compensate the plaintiff for compensating, which can lead to a minimum of 5 times the inferior and proven loss of financial loss, the defendant is instructed to provide: Order the defendant to pay for the case.
Special Powers Act, 1974: A case may be filed in the Special Powers Act for preparing for adulteration or for the preparation of forged medicines.
Sub-divisional tribunal filed a lawsuit: a special tribunal can be filed with regard to the importance of the crime, in this case the maximum punishment can be up to the death penalty.
